Privacy Policy
Poof is built so your photos stay on your phone. This page says what that means in practice.
What we collect
Anonymous feature statistics, and nothing else. Poof records which features are used, for example that a scan finished or that the paywall was shown, with rough size buckets, through Firebase Analytics in its no-advertising-ID variant. These statistics carry no name, no account, no advertising identifier and no content: never a photo, a filename, a contact or a calendar entry. They are not linked to you and are not used for tracking, and there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track. The App Store privacy label for Poof is Usage Data, not linked to you.
There are no accounts, no ads and no servers of ours holding your content.
Your photos
Poof reads your photo library on your iPhone to find exact copies, similar shots, blurry photos, screenshots, Live Photos and large videos, to compress big videos, and to sort your library into segments such as documents and receipts. All of it, the Vision sorting included, runs on your phone. Your photos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
To let a scan resume and to show your numbers on the Home screen, Poof keeps a small index on your phone: sizes, dates, fingerprints of the images it compared, and which photos it found. That index lives inside the app's own storage. Delete the app and it goes with it.
iCloud Photos
If Optimize iPhone Storage is on in iOS, some of your photos are on your phone only as small previews. When Poof shows one of those at full size, it asks iCloud Photos, through Apple's Photos framework, for your own full size copy, exactly as the Photos app does when you open it there. That is a download to your phone from your own iCloud. It never passes through us.
Your contacts and calendar
Clean contacts and Clean calendar only work if you grant those permissions, and each is asked for only when you open that feature. Merging duplicate contacts and removing spam events happens on your phone. Your contacts and your calendar never leave it.
The Secret vault
Photos you lock into the vault are stored inside the app's own storage on your phone, protected by the system's file encryption, and shown only after Face ID or your passcode. While the vault is locked, the app shows nothing about what is inside. Deleting Poof deletes the vault, which is why the app warns you about exactly that.
Deleting
Nothing is deleted without your tap. Everything Poof removes goes to Recently Deleted in Photos, where it stays for 30 days before iOS clears it. In Photos it is under Albums, right at the bottom.
Purchases
Poof Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
Notifications
Poof sends no notifications unless you turn one on in its Settings. A notification is made on your phone and never involves a server.
Updates
Once a day Poof asks the App Store whether a newer version of the app exists, so it can tell you on the Home screen. That request carries the app's own identifier and nothing about you or your photos. Beside the anonymous statistics above, it is the only thing Poof ever sends anywhere.
Children
Poof collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the update is posted on this page with a new date at the top.
